Castle of Joux

Open Air Museum of Comté Houses

Visit the open-air museum of the comtoises houses situated 15km from Besançon and discover Franche Comté in a 15 hectare park.

30 comtois buildings, among them a “tuyé” farm, gardens, orchards and vegetable gardens, animals…an ideal place for a week-end or a family trip.

Citadel of Besançon - World Heritage Site

As one of Vauban’s major masterpieces, and now magnificently restored, the Citadel of Besançon is considered to be one of the most beautiful in France. Its fortifications are included in the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. It is a cultural and tourist mecca and houses, among others, a zoological garden, the Museum of Resistance* and Deportation and the Comtois Museum.

from 26 March to 30 September: 10am - 12pm and 2.30pm - 6pm   
from October 1st to November 1st : 2.30 pm - 5.30 pm    
26 November to 31 December: 2pm - 5.30pm, closed on 25 December.   

Visitors can admire the work of the master glassmakers    
from 26 March to 30 April: 10am - 12pm and 2pm - 4.30pm    
from 2 May to 30 September: 10am - 12pm and 2pm - 5.30pm    
from October 1st to November 1st: 10am-12pm and 2pm-4.30pm,
as well as browsing the museography and strolling through the Japanese garden.
